I've deleted the merchandise store. Its another thing that I always felt I needed as a professional musician - because loads of places say that, and loads of people sell merch. I really like all the podcast merchandise for example, on the other hand I never buy it because I pretty much stopped wearing or using branded things a long time ago.
And if I don't, why would anyone else? Why sell something that I myself wouldn't wear or use - unless people were really asking for it. But they aren't! And of course the less distraction, the more music. So it seems like a logical step for now at least, and I have been thinking about sustainability too.
Particularly as at the moment, the Strange Textures name is something I'm thinking of moving away from or fundamentally changing. I might not of course, but it's always been the name of the podcast, not my nom de plume or band or anything, just a handy banner. It could morph into something like a community project or label, or I could move onto a new project (might move website too at that point, or keep this just again as handy banner).
Of course if anyone has ideas about what they'd like to see from me that isn't music, let me know…
